The largest donor to Mullican's campaign had a letter to the editor published in the Washington Post that was denounced by elected officials and organizations.

The City of Rockville has completed putting the publicly available campaign finance reports on their website. The information is not in a digital format, making analysis slow. There are some initial findings, of interest to Rockville citizens. The Verity will start with Brigitta Mullican.
$100 from Laurie Halverson (Potomac), Republican who ran in 2018 for District for District 15 of the Maryland House of Delegates and lost;
$100 from Ed Amatetti (Gaithersburg), Republican who ran for County Council District 2 and lost;
$100 from Jae Hwang (Rockville), Republican who ran for Montgomery County Sheriff in 2018 and lost;
$150 from Sylvia Darrow (Potomac), Republican who ran in 2010 for District 15 of the Maryland House of Delegates and lost; and
$350 from Kathy Gugulis, Treasurer of the Potomac Women's Republican Club and author of a letter to the editor that includes the following:
Allowing campers, trailers and storage containers to be put in a neighbor’s backyard to house low-income residents is a slap in the face to those people who have worked hard to build a comfortable home and neighborhood. [...]
[...]Just because others flee crime-ridden and poverty-stricken areas doesn’t mean Montgomery County has to be turned into a slum to accommodate them.
